We had a great dinner tonight and as we were eating it, Allen realized that it was just over $10 so it would make a good post to share with you all. It was pretty easy, too. We had turkey burgers (with cheese, but no bun), sweet potato fries, and strawberries. The box of Buterball turkey burgers was $6.98 for six 1/4 lb. burgers, we used 3 sweet potatoes that cost about $2, and the strawberries were $1.50. We also used a few cheese slices, so add that in and I'd say our total cost for five people was $11, plus we had some burger left over.
I put the burgers on our griddle because our grill is out of gas and cooked them from frozen 10 minutes on each side, plus a couple of minutes to melt the cheese.
I washed and cut up the strawberries.
The sweet potatoes were the only thing that really took any work, but here is the super easy recipe:
Peel and wash the sweet potatoes.
Cut into rectangles (or whatever shape you like).
Put in a large bowl, cover with olive oil and stir.
Throw on some salt and pepper and stir.
Pour the sweet potatoes out onto a baking sheets (with sides preferably).
Put in the oven at 350 for 45 minutes or until they are as done as you like. I prefer mine crunchy, so sometimes I leave mine in a little longer.
**If you want to make them even sweeter potatoes, sprinkle on brown sugar and cinnamon instead of salt and pepper.
There you have it, we all ate for just over $2 a person and the kids loved every bite!
Thanks for sharing! I'm going to do that with some sweet taters! Love you!
